Session Description:
Building an understanding of your candidate – 3 pillars to use when recruiting for top talent Understanding who your candidate is, is more complex than just reviewing their resume. They are bringing much more to the table than just that one document. They bring their professional and personal experiences, their network, their interactions and relationships and their behavioural "style". In acquiring top talent – that is, the right person for the right job, there are a number of "pillars" to consider when you are building your understanding of a candidate. At Servus we focus on 3 valuable pillars; (1) the resume, (2), the interview, and (3) their behavioural style. For this session, we will focus on assessing the candidate's behavioural style and how you can incorporate that into your hiring decision.


Archana Malhotra has been with Servus Credit Union for close to 22 years and started her career as a Teller. From there she progressed into the Human Resources Department holding several positons including Training Coordinator, Corporate Trainer, Human Resources Specialist, and Human Resources Consultant and for the last 5 years has been working as a Senior Human Resources Consultant. Her portfolio as a Senior HR Consultant includes recruitment, career pathing and employee engagement. She holds both a Finance and Human Resources Management Diploma form NAIT as well as her CPHR designation.   

Anita Velasquez has been with Servus Credit Union for 7 years and in that time has had a variety of roles at Servus in recruitment, project management, and change management. Her career has provided her a number of opportunities that have built her skill as an HR generalist. Currently, she works with the Change Management team at Servus, involved in transformational change initiatives and technical projects, ensuring employees transition through change as smoothly as possible. Anita has her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the U of A, an HR certificate with distinction from MacEwan University, and has her CPHR and Prosci designations.
